Healios exists to empower every young person to build the capabilities for long-term mental health, successfully navigate life’s challenges and experience a better quality of life.
In the UK, the demand outstrips supply around 3:1 when helping children with mental health and neurodiverse conditions. This leads to two things:
There is strong evidence that early intervention has a significant impact over the lifetime of an individual. The current system in the UK is failing a generation of children.
We are seeing the declining behavioural health of young people to 1 in 5 having a mental health and/or neurodiverse condition in 2021, compared to 1 in 8 in 2017.
The bottleneck for solving this problem isn’t just funding. There is poor access to clinical services due to a shortage of skilled clinicians in the UK. This is leaving families waiting between 2 months and 2 years, with 76% of conditions worsening during this wait.
That’s why we launched the Healios Academy to train more people.
At Healios the time of our clinical team is our most precious resource. The critical role that engineering plays is to optimise that time and ensure our clinicians are enabled to do their best work.
